An estimate for 2026: the year's income tax spread evenly over your paychecks, using the standard deduction. Your employer uses the IRS withholding tables and your W-4, so a real paycheck can be a little different. Credits (like the child tax credit), other income and local taxes aren't included.

How Rhode Island taxes a paycheck

  • Rhode Island uses one rate schedule for every filing status. For 2026 it taxes income at 3.75% up to $82,050, 4.75% from there to $186,450 and 5.99% above that.
  • The 2026 standard deduction is $11,200 for a single filer, $22,400 for joint filers and $16,800 for a head of household, and each person and dependent has a $5,250 exemption.
