Origin puts money, investing and advice in one app.
Wonderful lets each of you choose what's seen.
Origin is a finance app with budgeting, investing and an AI advisor, and a partner joins at no extra cost. Wonderful does one job for two people with their own money: you each choose what the other sees, and every paycheck gets a plan.
Free for your first week. Nothing is charged until it ends.
Each of you picks what your partner sees, account by account: everything, totals only, or nothing.
The bills due before the next one, what goes to savings, and what's left to spend, for each of you and for both.
Split what you share evenly, by what each of you brings home, or all together, and see who owes whom.
For a couple, line by line
What Origin does well, and where it falls short for two
Good
- Partner access is included in the price.[5][3]
- Free DIY tax filing is part of the membership, including joint filing.[5][6]
- One flat fee: $99 a year after the first year, with no add-ons for tax filing or partner access.[5]
- Covers budgeting, investing, estate planning and an AI advisor in one app.[1][7]
- 4.6 stars on the App Store from 3,980 ratings.[7]
- The App Store listing says "No ads. Ever." and that Origin never sells data.[7]
Not so good
- No free plan or free trial on the pages opened; the first year is $1, then $99 a year.[5][6]
- Many 5-star App Store reviews in 2026 end with "Entered a sweepstakes for this review."[8]
- Origin's claim that its AI Advisor scored 98.3% on the CFP exam is its own marketing and was not checked.[5]
- App Store reviewers in 2026 report bank connections that expire or will not reconnect, and slow support.[8]
- Reviewers say it does not support some accounts, such as Webull investments and Cash App savings.[8]
- Some reviewers say they were billed after cancelling.[8]
Sharing with a partner
Origin offers partner access “at no additional cost.” One partner invites the other by email and each connects their own accounts[5][3]. Both then see a combined household view of net worth, spending by category, budget and goals. Individual accounts stay in each person's name, and neither partner can move money in the other's accounts. The blog describes no way to share only some accounts[3].
Wonderful also gives each partner a login at no extra cost[10]. The difference is the control: each person chooses, account by account, whether the other sees everything, only totals, or nothing[11]. For more on keeping some money your own, see yours, mine and ours.
Splitting what you share
In Origin you can filter transactions by member to see whose spending is whose, and a bill-splitting feature is not described[3]. Wonderful counts each charge as yours, your partner's or ours[12], splits what is shared evenly, by income, or any way you choose, and keeps a running total of who owes whom[12]. The best apps to split bills with a partner compares more.
Beyond the budget
Origin does much more than budget. It has an AI advisor (“Ask Origin”) that answers questions using your connected accounts, with no usage limits on it[1][5], an investing view with holdings, allocation and performance, plus its own automated index portfolios[6][7], free DIY tax filing through April Tax, including joint filing for couples[5][6], and estate planning with wills and beneficiary designations[1][6]. Origin also says its AI Advisor scored 98.3% on the CFP exam; that is its own marketing.
Wonderful does a narrower job. It plans each paycheck for bills, spending and saving[12], finds recurring charges and subscriptions without cancelling them[12], shows the month you will reach each savings goal[12], and walks you through life events like getting married, with the deadlines[12]. It gives no investment advice and no tax filing.
Where Origin is ahead
Origin covers iPhone, Android, Mac and the web[1], is rated 4.6 on the App Store from 3,980 ratings[7], and its App Store listing says “No ads. Ever.”[7] If you want investing, tax filing and an advisor in the same place as your budget, Wonderful does not offer that. It is on the web only for now[12] and has no store ratings yet.
Which one fits
Pick Origin if you want budgeting, investing, taxes and an advisor under one flat fee, and you are happy to see a combined household view. Pick Wonderful if you keep some money your own, want to choose what each of you sees, and want a plan for each paycheck. Our roundup of budgeting apps for couples sets them next to the rest.
