What Honeydue does well, and where it falls short for two

Good

  • Free, with no feature behind a paywall.[3]
  • Each person decides per account how much the other sees.[8]
  • Built-in chat about a specific transaction.[7]
  • Bill reminders and per-category monthly limits with alerts.[10]
  • Works on iPhone and Android.[6][10][11]

Not so good

  • No web app or Mac app is listed. The App Store header says "Only for iPhone" and Google Play carries the Android version.[10][11]
  • The app sometimes asks users for an optional monthly tip.[3]

What a partner sees

On this one the two are close. Honeydue is built for two: each partner links their own accounts and the app asks what the other can see[6][8]. The choices are balances and transactions, balances only, or nothing[8]. Wonderful gives the same range, account by account: everything, only totals, or nothing[15]. If privacy is the whole question, either one does the job, and the free one costs nothing to try. Our guide to privacy in couples finance apps explains the choices.

Sharing costs

Honeydue's App Store listing lists expense splitting and settling up, plus emoji reactions to a partner's spending, and its how-it-works page describes a chat on a specific transaction[7][10]. That makes it a friendly place to talk about money. Wonderful puts more weight on the arithmetic: shared costs split evenly, by income, or any way you choose, with a running total of who owes whom[16]. If one of you earns much more, see how couples with uneven incomes split costs.

Looking back or looking ahead

Honeydue sets a monthly spending limit for each category and alerts you and your partner as you get close[10]. It also sends bill reminders when a payment is due[7][10]. Wonderful starts from the paycheck: each one gets a plan for bills, spending and saving before it lands[16], savings goals show the month you will reach them[16], and net worth is kept for each of you and for both[16]. It can also switch you from separate to shared money on a date you pick, with earlier months left as they were[16].

Where Honeydue is ahead

It is free, with no feature behind a paywall[3]. It has an iPhone app and an Android app[6][10][11], rated 4.5 on the App Store from 10K ratings and 4.2 on Google Play from 2,851, and its reviews include couples who say they have used it for years. Wonderful is on the web only for now[16] and has no store ratings yet.

Which one fits

Pick Honeydue if you want a free app on your phones to see each other's money and choose how much each shares. Pick Wonderful if you want each paycheck planned, shared costs split by what each of you earns, and are fine with a browser instead of an app and a subscription. What Honeydue costs, next to Wonderful

What a year costs
  • Wonderful$99

No paid plan with a listed price: Honeydue.

Honeydue has no paid plan with a listed price; the whole app is free and a monthly tip of $1 to $10 is optional. Wonderful is shown at its yearly price, before tax.

Pricing

  • Free[3]FreeHoneydue's help center says, "Honeydue is 100% free for everybody, and we don't block any features with a paywall."
  • Monthly tip (optional)[3][10]Any amount from $1 to $10 a month through the App Store or Google Play. The help center says tips fund new features. The App Store lists $0.99 to $9.99.
  • The whole app is free. The only paid thing is the optional tip, which can be changed or cancelled in the App Store or Google Play.[3]
  • Joint Cash, a joint bank account with Visa cards from Sutton Bank (Member FDIC), has no monthly fees or minimums and is waitlist only on the site.[9]

Honeydue costs nothing to use, and that is a real reason to pick it. Wonderful costs $14.99 a month or $99 a year for the household, and has no free plan after the trial[14]. What the money buys is the plan for each paycheck, the income split and the running total of who owes whom, which Honeydue's pages do not describe.

Why people leave Honeydue

  1. Accounts that stop syncing. Many App Store reviews from 2024 to October 2026 say sync worked for a week to a few months and then stopped.[12]
  2. Support that does not answer. Reviewers say emails to support got no reply.[12]
  3. Duplicate transactions. Reviewers report the app duplicating transactions or not completing a category change.[12]
  4. Features a growing budget needs: reviewers ask for bulk category changes and for annual budgeting.[12]
