Cancel Costco membership at a warehouse
- Speak with a team member at any warehouse membership counter.
- Ask to cancel the membership. Costco says you receive an immediate refund.

Cancel Costco membership by phone
- Call the Member Services Center at 1-800-774-2678.
- Speak to a live agent and ask to cancel.
Cancel Costco membership turn off Auto Renew online
- Sign in at Costco.com.
- Go to Account, then Renew Membership.
- Remove the card set for Auto Renew.
This lets the membership run out instead of canceling it today. Costco also lets you do this at a membership counter, in chat with Member Services, or by phone.
Before you cancel Costco membership
- To let your membership end at the end of the current year, Costco says to remove Auto Renew at least two business days before your renewal month begins (the article also says 72 hours before its first day).
- If you remove Auto Renew within 48 hours of the renewal date, the card will likely still be charged. Costco says it will refund the charge to the card on file within two business days.
- Costco's help page for renewals lists the fee as $65 a year for Gold Star and Business members, with Executive members paying an additional $65, and says fees are subject to change.
- To ask for a refund after an automatic renewal, use the link in Costco's Auto Renew article. It says refunds take about 5 to 7 business days.
- Costco's cancellation page doesn't list what to bring, and it doesn't cover Executive refunds or rewards. Check with the counter or Member Services.
After you cancel
Keep the confirmation email or screenshot. Then watch your bank or card for the next billing date: if Costco membership charges you again after you cancelled, ask Costco membership for a refund first, and if that fails, dispute the charge with your card.
