Cancel YNAB on the web
- Log in to the YNAB web app.
- Click your plan name at the top of the left sidebar.
- Select Account Settings.
- Scroll down and click Cancel Subscription.
Billing is not in the mobile app. On a phone, open app.ynab.com/settings in your mobile browser.
Cancel YNAB by email
- Go to YNAB's help page and choose the option to tell the chatbot you need a human or send an email.
- Ask them to cancel your subscription.
Cancel YNAB through Apple (iPhone or iPad)
- Manage the subscription at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
- Cancel the subscription there.
Cancel YNAB through Google Play (Android)
- Manage the subscription at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
- Select YNAB and cancel.
Before you cancel YNAB
- Canceling lets you use YNAB through the end of your current subscription period. Until then you can resume it. After it expires it won't renew, and you can resubscribe to restore access.
- The 34-day free trial asks for no payment info, so usually there is nothing to cancel and you can let it expire. If you subscribed during the trial, cancel the upcoming subscription in Account Settings so you aren't charged.
- Canceling does not delete your account or data. If a subscription stays expired past the period in YNAB's Data Retention Policy, the data is deleted.
- Billing through Apple or Google is managed by them. See /cancel/apple-subscriptions and /cancel/google-play for those steps.
- YNAB's cancellation page says it does not give retroactive refunds, discounts or extensions. App store purchases follow that store's refund terms. Apple takes refund requests through its own page and Google says refunds must be requested within 48 hours of subscribing.
- People in the UK, Switzerland or the EEA may have extra rights, including a 14-day cooling-off period, per YNAB's cancellation page.
After you cancel
Keep the confirmation email or screenshot. Then watch your bank or card for the next billing date: if YNAB charges you again after you cancelled, ask YNAB for a refund first, and if that fails, dispute the charge with your card. The guide to disputing a charge has the steps and the deadlines.
