An estimate for 2026: the year's income tax spread evenly over your paychecks, using the standard deduction. Your employer uses the IRS withholding tables and your W-4, so a real paycheck can be a little different. Credits (like the child tax credit), other income and local taxes aren't included.
How Oregon taxes a paycheck
- Oregon taxes wages at 4.75%, 6.75%, 8.75% and 9.9%, with the 2026 bracket cutoffs taken from the Department of Revenue's withholding formulas. A single filer pays 4.75% up to $4,550 of taxable income, 6.75% to $11,400, 8.75% to $125,000 and 9.9% above that; joint filers reach those rates at $9,100, $22,800 and $250,000.
- Oregon lets you subtract the federal income tax you owe from your Oregon income, up to $8,750 for pay of $50,000 or more. The cap steps down to $7,000, $5,250, $3,500 and $1,750 for single pay from $125,000 to $145,000, and for joint and head of household pay from $250,000 to $290,000, and the calculator applies the steps (a step of $1,750 less subtracted is $1,750 less deduction here).
- The 2026 withholding formulas use a $2,910 standard deduction for a single filer and $5,820 for joint filers, and each person gets a $263 personal exemption credit. On the return a head of household uses the joint tax brackets and a $4,560 standard deduction (the 2025 amount, since the 2026 one is not in the sources). The credit is not available above $100,000 of pay for a single filer or $200,000 for joint filers and heads of household, and the calculator drops it there.
- Workers pay Paid Leave Oregon at 0.6% of wages up to $184,500 (60% of the 1% total rate), and the statewide transit tax at 0.1% of wages with no cap.
Oregon has 4 tax brackets, from 4.75% up to 9.9%. A single filer gets a standard deduction of $2,910. There is also a credit of $263 off the tax. Traditional 401(k) contributions come out of Oregon taxable pay.
