What time does Bank of America direct deposit hit?

What time does Bank of America direct deposit hit? It says the day it receives them, states no hour and describes no early pay.

Checked October 27, 2026

Bank of America says direct deposits are available the day it receives them. Its direct deposit page promises same-day access to your paycheck and alerts when the money arrives. Neither that page nor its account terms describe an early deposit feature, and neither states a time of day. The one published floor for the hour is the Nacha rule: by 9 a.m. local time on the settlement date.

What 'the day we receive them' means

The Clarity Statement says direct deposits are available on the day Bank of America receives them. It does not say what hour. So the date is firm and the hour is not. A deposit credited on payday is available on payday, whether it posts overnight or mid-morning.

What sets the earliest is your employer. It sends payroll to its bank, the file goes through the ACH network, and Bank of America receives it. Bank of America's pages say nothing about posting a payment before it is due, which is how the early deposit banks differ. That does not mean your paycheck never shows early. It means Bank of America doesn't promise it.

The one published floor on the hour

Nacha, which writes the ACH rules, says non-same-day ACH credits must be available by 9:00 a.m. in the receiving bank's local time on the settlement date. That holds if the credit reached the bank by 5:00 p.m. local time the day before. The main guide shows the rule and the Federal Reserve settlement times.

That is a limit on how late the money may be. A bank may make it available sooner. Bank of America's own pages state neither a time nor an early policy, so for a payday that matters, use your alerts and your transaction list.

Which accounts can take direct deposit

The direct deposit page says direct deposit is not available with Advantage SafeBalance Banking for Family Banking accounts. If you hold one of those, ask Bank of America how an employer can pay you.

On Advantage Plus Banking, the Clarity Statement lists a $12.00 monthly maintenance fee. One of the ways to avoid it is at least one qualifying direct deposit of $250 or more to the account. That makes a deposit that fails to arrive more than a timing problem for that account.

Federal benefits take a separate route

For federal benefit checks from the U.S. Treasury, Bank of America's page sends you to the government's enrollment site, godirect.gov, a financial center appointment or a call to the Treasury at 800-333-1795. The dates for those come from the government schedule, not from Bank of America.

How to set up direct deposit with Bank of America

  1. In the Bank of America mobile app, tap Direct Deposit under Account Management in your deposit account, or ask Erica to set up direct deposit.
  2. Find your employer or payroll provider and log in with your work credentials, then follow the steps and get a confirmation.
  3. Or enroll through your employer's payroll office. If it has no portal, give it a prefilled form from Online Banking.
  4. You will need your account and ABA routing numbers, plus your employer's name and address.

Why your Bank of America deposit might be late

  • Your employer's payroll was submitted late or with a wrong account number.
  • Payday fell on a weekend or a Federal Reserve holiday.
  • The direct deposit is new. Other banks say a switch can take a pay cycle or two, so ask payroll when yours starts.
  • Your account is a type that cannot take direct deposit.

If your Bank of America deposit hasn't arrived

  1. Check your alerts and your transaction list for a deposit dated today.
  2. Ask payroll for the date and the amount it sent, and confirm the account number it has.
  3. If payroll says it was sent, contact Bank of America and give it the date and amount.

If a bill is due before the money lands, call the biller before the due date. If a fee hits your account because of a late deposit, see how to get overdraft fees refunded. This is general information, not financial advice.

Dates to know

The Federal Reserve is closed on its holidays, and several banks warn that a holiday can delay a deposit. The next ones are Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2026; Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026; Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2026.
