Which Chase accounts get early deposit?

Chase's pages use two names. A press release dated October 19, 2022 announced the benefit for Secure Banking customers. The fee document effective June 14, 2026 lists it under Chase Secure Checking. In that document it appears only in the Secure Checking column.

If you have another Chase checking account, Chase's documents do not promise early deposit. Ask Chase which of its terms apply to your account, or look at your own transaction history to see whether past paychecks posted ahead of payday.

What decides whether a deposit is eligible

Chase says eligible deposits are certain ACH credits, such as payroll, tax refunds, government benefits and pensions. It also says it relies on the ACH coding the payer sends to decide if a deposit qualifies.

That means two paychecks from two payers can behave differently in one account. Your employer's coding and the day it sends the file both matter. A gig platform that pays by another method is not covered by that sentence.

No enrollment, but alerts help

The 2022 release says no enrollment is required: Secure Banking customers who have direct deposit get it automatically. It also says customers can sign up for direct deposit alerts by text, email or push notification.

Chase's Deposit Account Agreement adds a reason to turn alerts on. It says that when it receives an electronic deposit, the only notice you get is on your next statement. You can use Account Alerts or call to confirm a deposit.

If the sender made a mistake

Chase's agreement says that if the bank that sent an electronic deposit tells it was a mistake, Chase may deduct the amount from your balance without investigating. That applies to any direct deposit, early or not.

It is one more reason not to spend a deposit the moment it appears if the amount looks wrong. Check it against your pay stub first.

How to set up direct deposit with Chase

  1. Give your employer the account and routing numbers for your Chase account, through its payroll portal or its direct deposit form.
  2. Chase says you must set up direct deposit to your account to get early deposit. No separate enrollment is needed on Secure Banking.
  3. Turn on direct deposit alerts so you are told when the money is credited.

Why your Chase deposit might be late

  • Your payer sent the payment on payday or the day before, so there was no earlier notice for Chase to act on.
  • The deposit's ACH coding did not mark it as eligible.
  • Your account is not one that Chase's documents list for early deposit.
  • A weekend or holiday moved the payer's schedule. Chase's article says a payday on a holiday weekend may see funds arrive on the Thursday before.

If your Chase deposit hasn't arrived

  1. Look for a pending transaction. Chase's article says your bank may show an anticipated deposit date.
  2. Ask your employer's payroll department to confirm the payment was processed and on what date.
  3. If payroll confirms it was sent, contact Chase. Chase's article gives that order.

If a bill is due before the money lands, call the biller before the due date. If a fee hits your account because of a late deposit, see how to get overdraft fees refunded. This is general information, not financial advice.

Dates to know

The next ones are Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2026; Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026; Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2026.
