Does Rocket Money work for couples? Sharing, cost and 5 alternatives

What Rocket Money's help pages say about sharing with a partner: who pays, who sees what, and what happens if one of you cancels, then what to try instead.

We make Wonderful, and it's on this list. Everything said about the other apps comes from their own pricing and help pages, the app stores and what their users say in public, each linked in the sources. Nobody paid to be listed, and we don't earn anything if you pick one of them.

The short version

Yes, Rocket Money can be shared with a partner, but only on Premium. One Premium membership covers both of you and your partner gets their own login.[1] Both of you see every transaction and balance, and hiding an account isn't offered.[1] That suits a couple with nothing to hide and a budget to run together. It doesn't suit two people who keep their own accounts.

How sharing works in Rocket Money

This is what Rocket Money's help center says.

  • Premium only. "Share With Your Partner feature is currently available for Premium members only."[1]
  • One paid plan. "Only one Premium Membership is required." The invited partner gets Premium features through sharing.[2]
  • Primary and secondary. The person who sends the invite is the Primary member, and the invited partner is the Secondary member.[1]
  • Own login. Each partner receives their own login credentials, and can set their own MFA preferences.[2] The invited person creates a password for a new Rocket Money account. If they already have one, they first need to delete it.[1]
  • Two people. Sharing is designed for two people.[2] The app invite is done in Settings under Share Account, with the partner's full name and email.
  • Same data. "both partners can view and manage budgets, subscriptions, and transactions across all linked accounts."[2]

Rocket Money's shared budgeting guide describes the same setup: sharing needs Premium, and both partners see the same spending data, budget progress and financial goals in real time.[3]

What Rocket Money costs for two

You pay once. The price is not fixed: the cost article says Premium is "typically $7 to $14 per month, subject to change," and you pick what you think is fair.[4][5][7] Premium+ is a fixed $15 a month plus tax.[4][5][7] The help center says new Premium members get a 7-day free trial.[4][5]

The free plan is not an option for two: account sharing with a partner is listed as a Premium feature.[4] So for a couple the cost is one Premium subscription, at whatever you pick, and the partner depends on it. If the primary member cancels, the secondary member loses Premium too.[1] Read Rocket Money pricing in 2026 before you choose a price at sign-up.

What a partner sees in Rocket Money

  • Both members see all transactions and account balances. The feature doesn't currently allow hiding specific accounts.[1]
  • The partner can't use the Credit Score feature, which is limited to the Primary member.[1]
  • The partner doesn't receive account notification emails. They get the same push notifications, which use the Primary member's name.[1]
  • The help pages we read don't explain what each partner can change about the other's linked accounts, beyond viewing and managing shared budgets, subscriptions and transactions.

For how other apps handle this, see what your partner can see in couples budgeting apps.

Where Rocket Money falls short for couples

  • No hiding. If one of you keeps a personal account, the other sees it. See budgeting apps for couples with separate accounts.
  • One person owns the plan. The partner loses Premium if the payer cancels, and the credit score stays with the primary.
  • No shared-cost split. Premium includes transaction splits, but splitting a cost between two people isn't described, so who owes whom is worked out elsewhere.[4]
  • Billing complaints. Many October 2026 App Store reviews say people picked a lower price and were charged $15.[9]

“You want to take a minimum of 35% of my savings and it’s not even showing the subscriptions I specifically wanted to cancel. This is just another subscription that I need to cancel”

It has strengths for two as well. Rocket Money lists your subscriptions in one place and, on Premium, a team cancels them for you.[4] The App Store rating is 4.5 from 404K ratings.[7]

1. Keep your own accounts and choose what the other sees

Wonderful

$14.99/mo or $99/yr· Web

What it is

A budgeting app for couples who keep their own money, and for one person: each of you connects your own bank, chooses what the other sees, and every paycheck gets a plan.

Why it's on this list

We make Wonderful, so weigh this entry accordingly. It finds recurring charges and subscriptions and lists what is due before your next paycheck, but it doesn't cancel them for you, which Rocket Money does on Premium. What it adds for two: you choose, account by account, what your partner sees, and one price covers both of you, $99 a year after a free week. It is browser-only for now.

Ideal for: Two people who keep their own accounts and want recurring charges found without sharing everything.

What it does

  • Every paycheck gets a plan for bills, spending and saving before it lands.[14]
  • Banks connect through Plaid and every charge is sorted into a category.[13][14]
  • Mine, yours and ours: each charge counts for the person or the pair it belongs to.[14]
  • Finds recurring charges and subscriptions, lists what's due before your next paycheck, and flags a bill that comes in higher than usual. It doesn't cancel them for you.[14]
  • Texts you by iMessage when a bill is charged twice, a price goes up or a refund lands, and you can text it questions.[14]
  • Savings goals show the month you'll reach them.[14]
  • Net worth for each of you and for both, from the balances your banks send, with its line over time.[14]
  • Life events like getting married come step by step, with the deadlines.[14]
Wonderful's recurring charges: rent, streaming, power, internet, pilates and phone, each with the day it's due next.

Good

  • Built for two people who keep their own money, not only for couples who merge it.[14]
  • One price covers both partners.[12]
  • Each person decides what the other sees, per account.[13]
  • Tracks who owes whom, so there's no separate split app.[14]

Not so good

  • No iPhone or Android app yet; it runs in the browser.[14]
  • No free plan after the trial.[12]
  • No investment advice or portfolio analysis; investments count toward net worth as balances.[14]
  • New, so it has no app store ratings yet.[14]

Pricing

  • Monthly[12]$14.99 a monthFor the whole household, both partners
  • Yearly[12]$99 a yearFor the whole household, both partners
  • A free week, plus more days for finishing parts of setup. A card is added to start it and nothing is charged until it ends.[12]
  • No free plan after the trial.[12]

Monarch

A partner joins at no extra cost under the same subscription and gets their own login. The page says, "Partners will each have their own login, but can view each other's data."[19][20] Both partners see everything. The page says, "both parties will have full visibility into all accounts and transactions associated with it," and tells people to check they are comfortable with that first. The help center adds: "You cannot hide bank accounts or transactions in Monarch."[19][20][24] It costs $99.99 a year or $14.99 a month. See Rocket Money vs Monarch.

Honeydue

After you connect a bank, Honeydue asks what your partner can see: balances and transactions, balances only, or nothing.[29] The app is free; reviews report accounts that stopped syncing.[31][32]

YNAB

YNAB Together shares one subscription with up to six people, "for the price of a single subscription." It is meant for partners and other close groups.[36][37][42] It is $14.99 a month or $109 a year after a 34-day trial.[36][39] See YNAB vs Rocket Money and YNAB for couples.

Origin

"Origin offers partner access so you can manage your finances together at no additional cost." One partner invites the other by email and each connects their own accounts.[45][47] Both partners see a combined household view of net worth, spending by category, budget and goals. Individual accounts stay in each person's name and neither partner can move money in the other's accounts. The blog describes no way to share only some accounts.[47]

How to choose

Choose Rocket Money if you:

  • Want subscriptions found and cancelled
  • Have no account to hide from each other
  • Are fine with one person owning the plan

Choose Wonderful if you:

  • Keep your own accounts
  • Want one price for both of you
  • Are fine in a browser and with no cancelling

Choose Monarch Money if you:

  • Want a fuller household budget
  • Are fine with full visibility
  • Will pay about $99.99 a year

Choose Honeydue if you:

  • Want it free
  • Want per-account privacy
  • Use phones only

Where Wonderful fits, and where it doesn't

Wonderful is the pick if you keep some money separate. It is the wrong pick if you want an app to cancel subscriptions or negotiate bills for you, a free plan, or an iPhone or Android app: it does none of the three. If you want the broader list, see best budgeting apps for couples.

Questions people ask

Can Rocket Money be shared with a partner?

Yes, on Premium. The account holder invites their partner by email, and the partner gets their own login. Rocket Money's help center says only one Premium membership is required, and the partner gets Premium features through sharing. It is designed for two people.

Does my partner need to pay for Rocket Money?

No. Only one Premium membership is required, and it is the primary member's. The catch is that if the primary member cancels Premium, the secondary member loses Premium access too.

Can my partner see all my accounts in Rocket Money?

Yes. Rocket Money's help center says both members see all transactions and account balances, and that the feature doesn't currently allow hiding specific accounts. Its shared budgeting guide says both partners see the same spending data, budget progress and financial goals in real time.

Is sharing Rocket Money free?

No. Sharing needs Premium, which Rocket Money's cost article lists at $7 to $14 a month on a pay-what-you-think-is-fair scale, subject to change. Premium+ is $15 a month. The free plan lists account sharing as not included.

Does the partner have a separate login?

Yes. The help center says each partner receives their own login credentials. The invited person creates a password for a new Rocket Money account, and if they already have one, they must delete it first.

Can my partner use the credit score feature?

No. The help center says the Credit Score feature is limited to the primary member. The partner also doesn't get account notification emails, though they get the same push notifications.

Can I hide an account from my partner in Rocket Money?

Rocket Money's help center says the feature doesn't currently allow hiding specific accounts. If you want some accounts private, Honeydue and Wonderful let you choose what your partner sees, account by account.

What is a good Rocket Money alternative for couples?

Wonderful and Honeydue if you keep your own accounts, Monarch or Origin if you share everything and want one household view, and YNAB if you want a budgeting method on one subscription for up to 6 people.
