Checked October 22, 2026

Log in to dropbox.com, click your avatar, choose Manage account, then Cancel plan. Your account changes to Dropbox Basic at the end of the current billing cycle and you won't be charged again.

Cancel Dropbox on dropbox.com

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar.
  3. Click Manage account.
  4. Click Cancel plan at the bottom of the page.
  5. Select a reason for canceling.
  6. Confirm and follow the prompts.

You should get an email titled "Dropbox Plan will not renew". If you don't see Cancel plan, you likely bought the plan on a mobile device.

Cancel Dropbox through a mobile app store

  1. If the plan was bought on a mobile device, cancel it through that device's app store.
  2. If you don't get an email from the app store, contact its support team.

Cancel Dropbox by mail

  1. Use Dropbox's template letter or write your own. Include your first and last name, the email address on your account and your payment method.
  2. Add the transaction details Dropbox asks for, which differ for a card and for PayPal.
  3. Mail it to Dropbox, Inc., P.O. Box 77767, San Francisco, CA 94107 (U.S., Canada or Mexico).

Dropbox says mailed letters take longer. If your plan renews soon, cancel online. Charges made before your letter is processed won't be refunded.

Before you cancel Dropbox

  • Canceling doesn't take effect right away. Your account changes to Dropbox Basic at the end of your current billing cycle, and your next billing date shows under Upcoming invoice at dropbox.com/account/billing.
  • Basic includes 2 GB. If you're over, you may not be able to sync, upload, share, move or preview files. If you stay over the limit, Dropbox may delete files you own to bring the account back under it.
  • These steps are for individual Plus, Professional and Essentials plans. Family, team and trial subscriptions have separate instructions.
  • To confirm, open the Billing tab in your account settings and click Change next to Billing period. You should see "Plan downgrade scheduled".
  • Dropbox's page doesn't state a general refund policy. It points to its support and refund articles.
  • Letting a card expire doesn't cancel your plan, and deleting the app doesn't cancel it or delete your account.

After you cancel

Keep the confirmation email or screenshot. Then watch your bank or card for the next billing date: if Dropbox charges you again after you cancelled, ask Dropbox for a refund first, and if that fails, dispute the charge with your card. The guide to disputing a charge has the steps and the deadlines.
