How we compared
The two overlap on linking accounts and watching bills, so we looked at where they stop overlapping:
- Price and free plans. What you pay, and what you get for nothing.
- Subscriptions and bills. Finding them, cancelling them, negotiating them.
- Budgeting. What each gives you to plan with.
- Couples. Whether a partner can join and at what cost.
- What people say. Public App Store reviews from 2026.
We read Rocket Money's cost article, help center and FAQ, and Quicken's Simplifi product page and help articles, plus the app stores, on November 2 and 3, 2026. Rocket Money's own pricing page did not load, which is why its Premium price is a range, not a number. Every fact is numbered to its source at the end.
Simplifi vs Rocket Money price and free plans
Simplifi: $3.99 a month billed annually, with $6.99 beside it on the page. The page says the offer is for the first year when ordered directly from Quicken by November 29, 2026.[1] Only annual plans are offered, and renewals are charged at the full standard price.[5] No free plan. Simplifi "requires an active annual subscription"; without one you cannot view your data or add transactions.[5]
Rocket Money: three plans. Free: Mobile only. Links accounts, lists subscriptions, spending breakdowns and a credit score. The cost article and help center list budgets, the bill timeline and custom categories as Premium; the FAQ still says Free allows up to two custom category budgets.[8] Premium: Pay what you think is fair, "typically $7 to $14 per month, subject to change," per the learn article. The help center says the price varies by platform and gives no numbers. The App Store lists Premium purchases from $2.99 to $9.99 without billing periods.[8][9][11] Premium+: A fixed $15 a month plus tax. Adds Rowan, an AI assistant that works through text messages, and no fee on bill negotiation.[8][9][11]
Trial and refunds. The help center says new Premium members get a 7-day free trial, then the subscription continues at the price chosen at sign-up. The learn article states no trial.[8][9] "While we do not offer a free trial" there is a 30-day money-back guarantee from the original purchase date, for purchases made directly on Quicken.com.[5] The sliding scale is where reviewers get caught: Being charged more than expected. Many October 2026 App Store reviews say they picked a lower price and were charged $15, or could not find where to cancel.[13]
For every plan on each side, see Rocket Money pricing and Simplifi pricing.
Subscriptions and bills
This is where Rocket Money is ahead. Finds recurring subscriptions in one place. On Premium, a team cancels them for you; its cost article says this usually takes 2 to 10 days. On Free you cancel them yourself.[8] Negotiates bills for Premium+ members with no success fee since November 2, 2026; before that the fee was 35% to 60% of the first year's savings.[8][9][10][15]
Simplifi tracks the same ground without acting on it. Tracks upcoming bills and subscriptions and shows all your subscriptions.[1] It does not list cancelling or negotiating among its features, so if you want someone else to cancel a charge, Rocket Money is the one that does. Our subscription managers and bill tracker apps pages compare more of them.
Reviewers of Rocket Money are not all happy with the cancelling: Cancellation that does not work or is a hassle. Reviewers say the app failed to cancel a subscription or that calling the company is easier.[13] The negotiation fee. Reviewers object to "a minimum of 35% of my savings" and to a percentage of savings on top of a subscription.[13]
Budgeting and planning
Simplifi is the budgeting-first app. A spending plan that shows what you can spend per day.[1] Projected cash flow with "what-if" scenarios.[1] Savings goals, reports and insights.[1] Investment tracking with cost basis, performance analysis and real-time quotes.[1]
Rocket Money budgets, but behind Premium. Custom budgets: unlimited budgets and custom categories on Premium. The cost article and help center list budgets as Premium only; the FAQ still says Free has up to two.[8][9][10] Net worth tracking and Financial Goals with Smart Savings or Custom Savings, on Premium.[8]
The practical difference: if your goal is to know what you can spend each day and where your balance is heading, Simplifi frames it that way. If your goal is to stop paying for things you forgot, Rocket Money is built for that, and the budget is something you add with Premium.
Couples and sharing
- Simplifi: Spaces sharing: you can share your data with one additional member. They need their own Quicken ID but not their own subscription, and must accept the invite on the web app.[1][3] Sharing is full access to the one shared space. Sharing specific accounts or features is not available yet, and the article says it "may be added" in the future. You can remove a member at any time.[3]
- Rocket Money: Account sharing with a partner is listed as a Premium feature.[8] Not stated on the pages we read.[8][10]
So Simplifi has the clearer answer for two people: one extra member with their own Quicken ID, no second subscription, but full access. Rocket Money's pages say less. Neither describes splitting a shared cost. For that, see the best budgeting apps for couples.
Platforms and bank connections
Both list iPhone, Android and web. A web app plus mobile apps for iOS and Android, usable in the U.S. and Canada.[1][5] Real-time and on-demand account syncing, a customizable dashboard, an iOS widget and desktop web access on Premium.[8] On Rocket Money's side, the free plan is mobile only.[8][9]
On connections, Automatically categorizes transactions and connects to over 14,000 financial institutions.[1] Bank logins go straight to Plaid and are not stored by Rocket Money. Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest with 256-bit AES.[10] Reviewers of both describe drops. Bank connections: App Store reviewers in 2026 report main banks disconnecting, accounts that will not sync, and long waits for fixes.[7] Missing subscriptions and dropped accounts. Reviewers say the app does not list all their subscriptions or loses connection to accounts.[13]

A third option
We make Wonderful, so weigh this as you would any maker's note. Finds recurring charges and subscriptions, lists what's due before your next paycheck, and flags a bill that comes in higher than usual. It doesn't cancel them for you.[18] That covers the finding half of what Rocket Money does, and the planning half of what Simplifi does: Every paycheck gets a plan for bills, spending and saving before it lands.[18]
It is built for two people who keep their own money. Each person chooses, account by account, whether the other sees everything, only totals, or nothing.[17] Wonderful costs $14.99 a month or $99 a year for both of you, with a free week first and no free plan after it. It does not cancel subscriptions or negotiate bills, it gives no investment advice, and it has no iPhone or Android app yet. If you want someone to cancel charges, Rocket Money is the better pick.
