Other things Amazon says it can be
- When you order, Amazon contacts your bank to confirm your card. Amazon says this authorization appears on your statement but is not an actual charge, and a cancelled order can leave one too.
- One order can become several charges when items ship separately, so a line may be smaller than the order.
- Amazon also lists a family member or coworker using your card, other cards on the same account, back-ordered or preordered items shipping, and gift orders as common causes.

When to go to your card company
If nothing in your Amazon account, or the account of anyone who uses your card, matches the date and amount, or Amazon won't fix a charge that's wrong, contact the bank or card company that issued the card. Credit and debit cards have different rights and deadlines: the guide to disputing a charge has both side by side.
Questions people ask
What is AMZN Mktp US on my credit card?
A purchase on Amazon.com. Amazon's help page lists "AMZN Mktp US" followed by a code among the names its Amazon.com purchases show under. Find it by date and amount in Your Transactions.
Is AMZN Mktp different from Amazon.com?
Both are names Amazon lists for purchases on Amazon.com. The page that explains them doesn't split them further, so look the charge up in Your Transactions to see which order it was.
Why do I see an Amazon charge for an order I cancelled?
It may be an authorization, not a charge. Amazon says it contacts your bank to confirm your payment method, and that this appears on your statement but isn't an actual charge. Cancelled orders can show one too.
Why is the amount different from my order total?
Orders that ship in parts are charged in parts. Match each charge to the order number in Your Transactions.
What if it isn't in my Amazon account at all?
Check Amazon Pay, Prime and digital orders, and anyone else who uses your card. If none match, contact your card company: the dispute guide has the deadlines.
